SPACE SHUFFLE – no more out of space

In October 2010 the ADJ Group expanded another time it’s warehouse capacity for 5.500 pallets. The ongoing demand on ELATION products and the plan to increase the availability on all products was the reason for this 800.000 EUR project.

The new Hall 3B is equipped with a flexible stand system by SSI Schäfer, a leader in warehouse equipment. “By moving complete rails with more than 250 Tons we can double the capacity by square meter”, so Dirk Kast, CEO of the ADJ Group Europe.

The new hall is more than 15 meter high, the racks 6 levels high. A new high-load fork lift is necessary to load and unload the racks.

It just takes 12 seconds to open and close an idle and give access for the lifter. This is great to refill the picking places in the other 2 halls where 8 picking employees manage every order within minutes. In most times an order leaves the warehouse on the same day when it’s placed.

“The storage in the now two, so called “refill halls” 3A and 3B is computerized and by random. So we can fill up the spaces to 100% without to leave space between for similar products. Only the computer knows later where a product is stored. The fork lift drivers have access to the computer system direct to manage the warehouse.” So Guenter Thiel, logistics manager of the ADJ Group Europe.
